SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID

*Beginning October 1 families can file their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA):  www.fafsa.ed.gov*


Raise.Me Micro-Scholarships
All students grades 9-12 are eligible to create an account to earn micro-scholarships throughout high school for things like attending a college fair, completing the FAFSA, playing a sport, taking the PSAT, volunteering, and more!! The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship
Renewable four-year scholarships; $211,900 went to 31 Vermont students for the 2017-18 academic year
Who: Students from New England with financial need who are seeking a bachelor's degree at a 4-year college in the US
*Successful candidates are those who display academic achievement, service to others, good character, leadership qualities, and a willingness to work to contribute to college, personal, and/or family expenses. We also value demonstrated grit and resiliency in students who have faced significant challenges.
Qualifications: GPA of 3.0 or higher, financial need: check the financial eligibility calculator on the website to see if you qualify
Deadline: May 1, 2018
-Includes a formal essay and short written responses
-Requires a resume
-2 recommendations are required, but more are welcome

Vermont Golf Association Scholarship
Who: Any high school senior pursuing further education full-time
Qualifications: Must have a current and active affiliation with the game of golf such as competing on a golf team, working at a golf course, and/or participating in golf programs or events.
Deadline: May 1, 2018
Fill out the application online at http://vtga.org/vga-scholarship-fund-2, print the application once filled out and mail it along with all required documents to the provided address.
-You must have filled out the FAFSA & include a copy of the EFC page
-3 Letters of Rec (1 academic, 1 affiliation to golf, 1 personal)
-Provide the cost of the institution you plan to attend and financial package they are providing

League of Women Voters Scholarships
Awards of $1,000
Who: Any high school senior
Qualifications: Demonstration of an interest in civic participation and community service, have a need for financial aid, and is highly recommended by a teacher
Deadline: May 1, 2018

River Valley Credit Union
Awards of (3) $1,000
Who: High school senior who is a member of River Valley Credit Union with continuing status since October 13, 2017
Deadline: May 4, 2018

-Write an autobiographical essay, which includes current plans for the future, details of school, and/or community service, and financial need, if relevant.
-3 Letters of Rec (2 school employees, 1 outside reference)

Calvin Writing Prize
First prize is $1500, second place is $500
Who: Any Vermont student ages 13-19
Deadline: May 11, 2018
-Write an essay of 800 words or less
-Prompt: Imagine that you are President of the U.S. Pick one issue today where you believe America's founding principle guaranteeing equal rights for all citizens are not being fully realized. Eileen Austin Neal RN Memorial Scholarship for Nursing
Award of $1,000
Who: Senior accepted into a nursing program of study
Criteria: Applicants will be judged on interest in and commitment to the field of nursing. Determination will be based on merit and need.
Deadline: Required material must be received via mail by 5:00 pm Friday May 25, 2018.

Horatio Alger Scholarship
Awards up to $2,500
Who: High school seniors planning to attend a 2 year or less career or tech degree/certification program in Fall 2018
Qualifications: Must be Pell Grant eligible/ demonstrate financial need
Deadline: June 15, 2018
