Scholarships

Scholarships and Financial Aid Information:    
  • NEW FOR 2016-2017: Beginning October 1 families can file their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA):  www.fafsa.ed.gov

1. Lehmbeck Law Firm "Sprinting Towards Success" Scholarship: Lehmbecker Law Firm, located in Bellevue, is offering the Sprinting Towards Success Scholarship, which is a $1,000 college scholarship made payable to the recipient’s university of choice. Scholarship applicants will submit a one to three page essay responding to the question, “What motivates you to run?” Here is more information about the scholarship: http://lehmlaw.com/sprinting-towards-success-scholarship/

2. The American Legion Department of Vermont Scholarships:
  • Ray Greenwood Scholarship: $1,500
  • Charles N. Barber Scholarship: $1,000
  • Ten (10) $500 Scholarships
Deadline for these scholarships is April 1, 2017

3.  United States JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship:
  • Each year, the U.S. JCI Senate Foundation grants $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools. The number of grants awarded annually is at the discretion of the Foundation and must be used for educational expenses in the first year of full-time study. Checks awarded will be made out in the name of the recipient and the educational institution of the recipient’s choice.

4.  The St. Andrew's Society of Vermont Scholarship:
  • The St. Andrew's Society of VT has 3 scholarships available at $1000 each.  Recipients are selected by the scholarship committee on the basis of previous scholastic records, three (3) letters of recommendation, a letter of educational goals, financial need and SAT scores.  Scholarships can be found at http://www.standrewssocietyofvermont.org/
5. Heritage Family Credit Union Scholarship:
  • In 2017 Heritage Family Credit Union (HFCU) is offering a total of four (4) scholarships of $1,000 each. These scholarships are open to all seniors attending a high school in HFCU’s field of membership who intend to pursue further education in an accredited undergraduate program at a college, trade school or university regardless of the degree they are pursuing.

6. Sons of the American Legion Dennis Comai Scholarship:
  • Any senior planning on attending a technical college or trade school next year is eligible to apply for the American Legion Dennis Comai Scholarship. I have paper copies of the application in my office. Please come see me. There will be two scholarships awarded at $1000 each!
7. The Winona Smith Scholarships:
These scholarships in the amount of $1,000 were established to honor Winona Smith, a long
time member of the League of Women Voters who devoted her energies to ensuring that
Vermont students receive the best possible education. The awards are presented to a
Vermont resident in his or her senior year of high school who has demonstrated an interest in
civic participation and community service, who has a need for financial aid, and who is
recommended by a teacher. See Ms. Bertocci for the scholarship application.

8. The Kristi Allison Lincoln Memorial Scholarship:

Eligibility:

  • 3.0 GPA
  • Attend an accredited school
  • Demonstrate potential for academic success
  • Demonstrate Financial Need
  • Demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity and/or hardship (Foster care, disability, life challenge, etc…)
  • Seek a degree in the medical science field (doctor, nurse, dentist, etc.)
  • Community Service / Community Involvement
